I was diagnosed with pyelonephritis( UTI that spread to the kidney). I am taking antibiotics twice a day( Ciprofloxacin). But one side effect that i've been having is sensitivity on the tip of my penis. Kinda hurts...but not too painful. Just more of annoying feeling. I was wondering what I could do for it. I haven't really been able to do much physical activity because of it. I would appreciate any helpful tips. Thank you.
You could take an analgesic. However, you have pain in a very specific area. Tylenol or something stronger will just dull the pain. The only way you are going to remove the pain all together is to use a local anesthetic. Preferably a topical one like lidocaine.
I doubt you will have access to lidocaine so cocaine would work just as well also. (liquidized cocaine is the anesthetic that is most commonly used when performing Lasik or any other opthalmic procedures)
I seriously doubt you would use cocaine - so using a benzocaine like liquid Anbesol would work just as well. (Anbesol is a topical anesthetic most commonly used for oral hypersensitivity)
You could try dipping the tip of your penis into Anbesol for instant pain relief gratification.
I warn you though. Anbesol is a vascular constrictor so it impedes the flow of blood. So don't dip your whole penis in the solution. The numbing effects will be great enough that you can cut the head off your penis with a scissor and not even feel it. So be careful when you zip up your pants. (+ info
How does E Coli cause Acute Pyelonephritis?
I am doing a project in Pre-Ap Biology and i need to know how "E Coli" attacks and spreads causing Acute Pyelonephritis, the most common victims, and the most effective treatment. It must be in the case of E Coli. Thankyou for your help. Please leave where you got your info.
E coli is the most common cause of cystitis or UTI (urinary tract infection). If left untreated the bacteria in the bladder will travel up into the kidneys causing pyelonephritis. (+ info
Where is acute pyelonephritis most likey to be found?

Where is acute pyelonephritis most likely to be found?
can you answer those questions? nicely? and easy to understand?
"Where is acute pyelonephritis most likey to be found?" -- In the entire ascending urinary tract and as far as the pyelum, or pelvis, of the kidney.
"and where is Escherichia coil most likey to be found?" -- That's Escherichia coli, or E. coli for short and it's found normally and naturally in the intestines and in & around the anus and on the perirectum. (+ info
How long does it take to get over pyelonephritis?
I've been in hospital for 5 days with it but I still feel sick, it's still really painful and I feel really really washed out. I've had it before bad enough to be in hospital before but it was worse this time.
Since you are being treated for this condition I suggest you ask your doctor about when you can be expected to recover and why this episode was worse. (+ info
How long does it usually take to get over Pyelonephritis infection??
It is a infection in the kidney's
The answer to your questions is dependent on how long you have had the infection. Pyelonephritis is easily treated with antibiotics. Relief begins in a couple days. The kidneys and bladder move the majority of antibiotic through the urine, rather than metabolic products. So, the bugs get a nice, strong dose.
Because this is an infection of the urinary system, how advanced the condition became determines how long, if ever, you will "get over" the impacts of the infection. One girl I knew in college has this hit her kidneys hard (as a silent infection), and she had preferment kidney damage.
Hopefully you caught this early enough where a little antibiotic treatment will let you forget about it. Antibiotic treatment can last 2 weeks. (+ info
What is acute pyelonephritis?
I got discharge from the hospital with an diagnosis of acute pyelonephritis today. I was in there from March 26 to today.
Urine infections are sort of "graded".
Since almost all originate "there", the bacteria first past the bladder. If It's infected, symptoms are mild and treatment is usually with pills.
If the bacteria move "upstream", gets to kidneys. Now you got pyelonephritis. The symptoms include high (104-105) spiking fevers, back pain, and vomiting. this is usually treated IN the hospital with IV antibiotics.
Acute just means it came about recently. (+ info

can helicobacter pylori causes pyelonephritis?
i know major etiology for pyelonephritis is e.coli, but can also it caused by h.pylori??
Not to the best of my knowledge. I shall explain. Even though you may be aware of some or most of the following details, there may be details contained in my discussion that you are not aware of. Whilst helicobacter pylori -H. pylori - infection is the most common chronic bacterial infection in humans, the bacterial infection causing pyelonephritis - Escherichia coli. Staphylococcus saprophyticus. Proteus mirabilis. Klebsiella pneumoniae - may sometimes develop elsewhere in the body and travel through the bloodstream to the kidney. Far more commonly, however, the infection is the result of bacteria from outside the body traveling back up the urinary stream through the urethra to the bladder and eventually to the kidneys, in which case it is known as an ascending infection. This may explain why women, whose urethras are short and in close proximity to the anus, a potential source of bacteria, have four times as many cases of pyelonephritis as men. H. Pylori infection is the single most reported responsible factor for dyspepsia by the studies that investigated the causes of this complaint in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients. However the bacteria is not considered to be the causative organism in pyelonephritis.

what is the vaccine for pyelonephritis?
Im doing a science assignment and i cannot find anything on the vaccine, please help must appreciated. :)
There is none. Pyelophritis is caused by several different types of bacteria and vaccine will have to be found for each of them. If you ask me, it is going to be a complicated practical problem. (+ info
