Can paranoid schizophrenia lead to disorganized or catatonic schizophrenia?
I was wondering, could one type of schizophrenia left untreated lead to other types?
----------
Catatonic -In this case, the person is extremely withdrawn, negative and isolated, and has marked psychomotor disturbances.
Disorganized-In this case the person is verbally incoherent and may have moods and emotions that are not appropriate to the situation. Hallucinations are not usually present.
If you have been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and start to show symptoms of either catatonic, or disorganized schizophrenia you should speak with your doctor. I'm not sure wether it could lead to them or not, but the doctor could have miss-diagnosed you. Either way it does sound possible from doing brief research.
Good luck

What is disorganized schizophrenia?
My guess right now is that disorganized schizophrenia has something to do with memory organization and the way memories are encoded and retrieved. Any ideas? I'm not talking about symptoms here, but the actual physical processes/mechanisms of the brain.
"The physical processes and mechanisms of the brain of any schizophrenic is not really well known, even by the most credible of resources."
So what about medication? What is the medication treating?

Is Buddhist monk the best life path for someone with disorganized schizophrenia?
Many kinds of people can flourish as Buddhist monks, as long as their life direction is clear.
If you have a deep aspiration to help ease the suffering of all beings, and are willing to work tirelessly on their behalf, then the monastic path might be suitable for you.
On the other hand, if you simply seek solitude and a quiet existence, then you might consider another path. Most Buddhist monks live in large communities and work very hard to support that community.
Also, please keep in mind that Buddhism does not provide treatment for mental health issues. Buddhist practice helps us see how anger, ignorance, and desire produce suffering, and steady practice slowly lessens the effects of these poisons. Although I'm not a mental health professional, my understanding is that most mental health conditions arise from complex chemical issues in the brain, none of which are addressed by Buddhist practice.
Best wishes on your path! (
