Where can I buy a body scrub like that at the body shop for a cheaper price?

I love the body shop's body scrub in mango. But at 17 dollars a jar I can't afford it anymore, because I go through them very quickly. I went to a few drugstores and I couldn't find any that smelled as nice as the ones at the body shop. Can anyone reccomend a body scrub that is cheaper that smells similar to the mango one at the body shop.
----------

Not sure about the mango scent, but St. Ives apricot scrub is fantastic, and a total bargain.  (+ info)

Does sugar and water work good as a facial scrub?

I heard that it works well as a gentle scrub. Is this true? And should I do it at night or in the morning?
----------

Yeah, that's what I do to exfoliate! But since sugar dissolves in water, you have to sort of pat your face dry first or the sugar will just melt before you can scrub with it. I either...
A: dampen my face, then pat it with a towel before pouring some sugar in my hand and massaging (don't be rough, it can make your skin super red).
or B: lather my face up with a cream cleaner, and then pour the sugar in my hand and message it in with the cleanser, then wash both off. This is gentler and gives me softer skin.

I recommend doing it no more than twice a week in the morning... it'll make your makeup go on soooo smooth. Exfoliating is not good if you do it too much.  (+ info)

Can an exfoliating scrub cause you to break out?

I recently switched from a cleanser which only contained .5% sacilyc acid to another cleanser which contained 2%. I also started to use an exfoliating scrub every morning. I don't have acne-prone skin, I only get the usual pimples now an then, but now I'm breaking out very badly. Is it because my skin is too sensitive and reacted to the harsh chemicals? If so, if I switch back to my old cleanser, how long until my skin recovers?
----------

I wanted to try those exfoliating cleansers and scrubs on my skin but my dermatologist told me never to use them because they damage the skin by tearing the pores instead of just exfoliating. There are very rare conditions and skin types that need this type of rough cleaning - the only area she said I could us it were my feet. Fair skins tones and very dark skin tones should stay away from these products.

Once a year I do a deep derma (skin) cleaning with her to rid myself of dead skin but even then my skin is raw and red for a few days, which is normal when my doctor does it - and it takes about 4 weeks for me to see the deep cleaning results which is awesome but a bit painful.

If you insist on using sacilyc acids yourself - be gentle and use only once or twice a year - better yet best to treat yourself to a good skin doctor who specializes in deep derma cleaning and this should only be done about once a year or every other year.

You should now only use a mild non dye glycerin soap and DO NOT SCRUB your face just splash and wipe with a clean white towel or good quality paper towel.  (+ info)

How can i add color to my sugar hand scrub?

In some stores i see this sugar hand scrub I've made it before but how do i color it like they do? I see it in pink and lemon yellows all the time.
----------

you can buy oil dispersed colorants or dry colorants...micas...lake dyes...etc at TKB trading :) You might also want to check out a soapers forum. I used to be on one...think it was called soapdish?

How do i make a coffee facial or body scrub?

What do i need to make this scrub? What are the benefits?
----------

1) While in the shower, vigorously rub coffee grounds on troubled cellulite spots for a few minutes everyday or a few times a week. Coffee is a stimulant and breaks down fat deposits when rubbed on those areas.

2) Give yourself a wonderful Homemade Body Scrub/Facial with Coffee Grounds, resulting in the smoothest softest skin you could imagine! For even smoother skin, add a few Tablespoons of Mineral Oil, Jojoba Oil or Olive Oil right from your kitchen cabinet accompanied by a few drops of your favorite essential oil.

3) Replenish your summer tan by rubbing coffee grounds all over your body then leave on for 30 minutes. Brewed coffee at room temperature can also be sponged and left on your skin for 20-30 minutes. Darker skin can be achieved by repeating this process more often.

Brown Sugar Vanilla Body Scrub

1 Cup Fresh Coffee Grinds
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract or Vanilla Essential Oil
1/4 Cup of either Olive Oil, Mineral Oil, Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil or Sweet Almond Oil

Mix together then put into a little container. If mixture looks a little crumbly and dry, add a little more oil. With a Loofah Scrub or your hand, rub all over body while in shower then rinse. This mixture will keep for a few weeks or even longer. Because oil is a natural preservative, this will prevent the coffee from molding. Mine has lasted over a month and still going strong!  (+ info)

can I use scrub oak in my smoker for bbq?

Just cut down a bunch of scrub oak. Wondering if I dry it out if it will work in my smoker?
----------

I have used fruit trees, nut trees, and even seen cypress, but oak chips always remind me of the rear end of a horse! I would never use oak as a food smoker!  (+ info)

Can I use apricot scrub and then tan during the summer?

Last Summer I barley got a tan on my face cause I had been using Proactive. It didn't let me get a nice glow at all. I have been using Apricot Scrub since and it works really good, but in the summer, will I be able to get a tan?

Thanks to anyone who answers!
----------

I wouldn't suggest it (getting a tan after you use any form of facial or body scrub), as your skin may be more vulnerable to the sunburn. The purpose of scrubs is to peel off dead skin & bring out the younger cells of the skin, if you subject your skin to sun damage after you do that, then there is a good chance sunburn will be worse off or maybe the hyperpigmentation that follows after that.
very few people actually realize the harmful effects of excessive sunlight on skin, cancer is one of them.I would recommend sun block instead so you can optimize enjoying the sun. Tanned skin color is overrated. People who are dark always want to get lighter & light skinned people are obssessed with getting a darker color. It is one of the reasons why white peple who love getting the tan are more prone to skin cancer & also look older than their age. The curse of asian skin is that we look younger than our age usually because we love putting on lotion, moisturizers & anything with milk or SPF on and try to stay away from too much sunlight.  (+ info)

When you chemically straighten your hair, is it alright to use dandruff shampoo and scrub?

I recently had my hair chemically straightened. It's been about a week and a half since it's been straight, and i'm starting to really like it. It's staying straight and everything is fine, but i'm afraid if i scrub it'll start to come out. I also have really bad dandruff, so i need to scrub and use dandruff shampoo. So basically, can i do this with chemically straight hair or what?
----------
