What skin care product can I use to get that porcelain look that many women have today?

I am a 40 year old black female. I see many women with skin that looks like porcelain. What product can I use to get that perfect looking skin, like theirs?

If you're talking about make-up try Chanel creme or Mac powder.  (+ info)

How does your skin peel after a sun burn?

I don't know how to phrase this question, but simply how does your skin peel. I know that Ultraviolet radiation damages the skin cells's DNA, and then repairs itself using enzymes.

But what is the process and how does the skin peel?
----------

The biggest reason skin peels is because once it is burned, it no longer has any moisture and it simply dies.  (+ info)

How do i lighten my skin from sunburn and keep my skin healthy and clear?

My skin turned like 3 shades darker!Because I just realized my sunscreen actually is a tanner o.o and I now stopped using it...is there any way how to naturally lighten my skin or any products in a store i can buy in Hawaii ie(Waipahu , Walmart, Longs). What SPF of sunblock should i use.I want to get rid of my acne scars and make my skin more clear, lighter, healthy.Btw I am half Filipino half Italian
----------

Hi Danielle, well firstly dont stress about getting dark because of the sun - white white people like me envy you, lol. Anyway, the best blockout for you is one especially for the face and make sure it is SPF30.

One that is good is made especially for babies but if your skin has had acne then I suggest one for the face as it will not clog the pores and cause more acne - I am not sure of brands in Hawaii (wish I was there to personally investigate this for you, lol again ENVY) but also make sure it is 4-6 hours water repellant if you go in the water and reapply it every 3-4 hours just to be on the safe side.

You can get a product called Drula Bleaching Wax (on line or email them asking for supplier in Hawaii - they answer very quickly) and this product will also clear any acne and acne scars. It is a fantastic product. I used it growing up in the New Romantic era of the 80's and my skin was snow white and gorgeously clear. I remember a male friend telling me that I reminded him of a song by Lloyd Cole "Shes got perfect skin", lol.

I never did hear that song but I took it has a supreme compliment and I owed it to Drula Complexion Soap and Beauty Lotion and Bleaching Wax. Many long years later and I still have beautiful skin and not a wrinkle or scar on it.

Aloe vera straight from the plant's leaves - break off a succulent leaf and squeeze the gel out of it (much the same as you would squeeze toothpaste from a tube) and apply to your scars. It is a natural healing plant and got rid of my son's burn marks after an accident at 10 with hot oil in the pan. At 16, he has no scars from that accident and they were severe and numerous all over his face and stomach.

Good luck.  (+ info)

How can I prevent skin from drying out from chlorine water?

=
I have 2 sons ages 12 and 10 who are both in swimming lessons 3 days a week. It's in a inside pool, lots of chlorine and their lesson lasts 75 minutes long. They have extremely smooth delicate skin, but we all know chlorine dries our skin out horribly.

What can I do to prevent their skin from drying out like this?
----------

we used to use baby oil - before getting in the pool.

when we were in the pool, our skin felt silky smooth, and it was ok when we got out.

i mean - i guess if you think about it, it's should keep the moisture in... i dunno. - sounds good...  (+ info)

How does skin cancer start out looking like?

Lately I have had little bumps not huge but like almost skin scab looking things (not scabs though). And I am in the sun doing activities a lot and I was wondering if it almost seems like it can or be a possibility of skin cancer? I'm not sure.
----------

I think that whatever you have, you should consult the dermatologist right away. I used to work in a medical show and we featured this young guy who initially had skin cancer. Now, half of his face is gone just because he thought that what he had was a new mole. It started just like a simple dot--really like a mole-- but it started growing and becoming a wound. The thing is, cancer--not just skin cancer-- manifests in several ways. That same guy first thought he had skin cancer but actually, the doctors found out later that it was muscle cancer.  (+ info)

What are good natural skin-care lines for people with sensitive skin?

I currently use products from The Body Shop, but would like to branch out/use cheaper brands. However, I am concerned about my skin's reaction to products and would like to hear from others. I have used Origins, which I enjoy. My make up remover is Physician's Organic Wear. Drugstore products like Neutrogena are WAY too harsh on my skin.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

My ex girlfriend uses Allmay products. She says the same thing.I wanted to treat her to a day of beauty at Elizabeth Grady and she said all their stuff is too harsh. I got her this Lancome perfume and gift set with beauty products. She wound up throwing out the eye liner, eye shadow, mascara and make up remover because she got a bad reaction to using them.  (+ info)

How can I go from white skin to black skin with make-up for costume?

For a costume I want to make my skin look black. I have white skin and am wondering what type of make up or paint or whatever I need to make it look like I really have black skin. What type of make up was used on that one show "Black. White" where a white family and black family switched races by make up? This is the type of effect I am looking for. Thanks for any help!
----------

There are several shades of black used on stage. Max Factor is what was used in a production I served in. (Finian's Rainbow)
It does not wash off easily, and true blacks not involved in the "show" might well find it patronizing and be offended.  (+ info)

How to keep my skin as smooth as possible for as long as possible?

I would like to have clear, smooth skin for as long as possible. However, I have large pores and oily skin (mainly on my face).

How can I fix this to get my skin to remain wrinkle-free for as long as possible? Any other tips?

Homemade treatment for clear soft skin

Strawberry Mask
- 1/2 a cup of natural yogurt
- 3 chopped stawberries
- 1/2 cup of oats
Mix in a blender until smooth. Put the mask on your face with your fingers and lie back and relax for 15 mins. And for an extra boost put cucumbers on your
eyes and you’ll be amazed at the difference!

All Natural Mask
- 1 teaspoon alcohol
- 2 teaspoons of distilled water
- 10 drops of natural lemon juice
- 5 drops of honey
- 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda
- Enough corn starch baby powder to mix it into a smooth paste.
Use daily, an hour before bed time. Apply paste to entire face area using cotton
ball, or your fingers. Leave on your face for half an hour, then rinse very well
with warm water, dry well but without scrubbing. Results should show within
one week.

Face Cleanser
- Mix 2tbsp. finely ground oatmeal
- 2tbsp. wheat bran
- 2tbsp. honey
Now mix in enough olive oil or apple cider vinegar to form a soft paste. Rinse
face with warm water. Then apply cleanser. Gently massage face for 5 mins.
Then rinse again with warm water and then rinse with cold water.
To Loosen and Cleanse Blackheads
- Make a paste of oatmeal, honey and and egg white. Apply to the skin,
massage for 10 minutes then rinse with tepid (room temperature) water.

Lemon Juice Works Wonders
- Wash your face and rinse thoroughly. Squeeze a fresh lemon into a small
bowl and put the juice on a cotton ball. Apply cotton ball to face. Repeat
soaking of cotton ball in lemon juice as needed. Let lemon juice dry on
face for about 10 minutes then rinse with cool water. The lemon juice
should make your face sting or mildly burn. If you have sensitive skin you
may wish to dilute juice with water. Follow this procedure one to two
times per day and you will notice amazing results within 14 days. This will also tighten your skin so you dont have any wrinkles.

Pore Cleaner Exfoliant Mask
- Mix baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and water into a paste and apply to
your skin. Let dry on the skin then wash off with cool water.

Egg Yolk Mask
- This mask is great for the skin. It leaves it refreshed and feeling great.
Take one beaten egg yolk and apply liberally to the face with a cotton ball.
Let dry on the skin for 15 minutes then rinse off with cool water. This
mask will replenish your skin and tighten up your pores.

Honey Oatmeal Mask
- Great for oily skin. Mix honey and oatmeal into a paste and apply to skin
for 15 minutes. The oatmeal will absorb the oil off your skin.
Milk of Magnesia
- Very nice mask for oily skin. You can apply a thin layer to the skin and
leave it on all day. Be sure to use flavorless Milk of Magnesia.

Water Flush
- Water helps the body flush out toxins and transport nutrients to the body.
Drinking water puts less strain on the skin organ to flush out toxins. The
recommended amount of water you should drink is at least half your body
weight in ounces of water( a 150 lb. person should drink 75 ounces/day ).
While water alone will not eliminate your acne it will greatly assist your
skin in remaining healthy.  (+ info)

What is the best skin care product on the market?

My skin seems to be acting up a little bit due to the weather. I have fairly normal skin, not excessively oily or dry. What's the best product to keep away blemishes? I wash my face everyday in the shower with Wet and Wild skin care, but that's obviously not working. Thanks!
----------

if you want something form a drugstore buy clean and clear continuous control cleanser with the clean and clear advantage oil-free moisturizer. another thing you can do is go with all natural cleansers. try zyporex, its all natural and just for acne. it gives you a really clean feeling. natural can be the best thing because it doesnt contain harsh chemicals that can irritate your face rather than help.  (+ info)

How come anytime my skin is exposed to hot water, I start to itch?

Everytime my skin is exposed to hot water my skin starts to continually itch and I have pityriasis rosea as well and it has an even worse reaction to it. I'm just wondering why is my skin so sensitive to hot water?
Do you think it may be a chemical that becomes somehow more active when heated that I may be allergic too? I use to not have this problem and this is the only reason I can think of. Opinions please!
----------

it could be because hot water dries your skin. the hotter the water the more drying it is . try shorter showers and don't soak in a tub put an unscented moisturizer on after the shower.  (+ info)
