Do I have vaginitis or some other infection?

My vagina is sore but only right where you'd insert a tampon.
I'm not sexually active and I don't masturbate or do anything that would cause soreness here.
It's slightly uncomfortable when I pee, also.
It doesn't really look different or smell or anything ...
But it's just uncomfortable.

Also, I just had to take Azithromycin for my throat infection. And I googled side effects and vaginitis is a very, very rare side effect. Could that be it?

How do I get rid of chronic vaginitis?

Last November (after an embarrassing sexual experience), I realized that I had a vaginal infection. I went to Planned Parenthood and they gave me some antibiodics. I still have it almost a year later! I'm so depressed and frustrated because I've been to the doc countless times and all I get is more medicine and a.) it gets better but comes back or b.) it gets worse. I just recently got into a relationship and I desperately want to have sex with him so please help! Should I change docs or what?

My wife has a vaginal infection called vaginitis. The treatment does not work? What other treatment can help?

She has been to the doc many times. The first time she was given some vaginal cream and worked only for a short time. She went back 4 months later and was given some anti biotic but still the problem exists. We are at a loss of what to do next. Please help!

Maybe your wife has drug tolerance to the antibiotics she used.

Ask the doctor if your wife can undergo antibiotic sensitivity test to know which antibiotic works for your wife.  (+ info)

what is bactrial vaginitis and how can i treat it naturally?

is there a way to treat bactrial vaginits naturally without drugs?

Hi Angelic.
Bacterial Vaginitis is an inflammation of the vagina which is caused by excessive growth of the bacteria called Gardnerella vaginitis.
1. A good hygiene becomes very important
2. Drink at least four ounces of pure cranberry juice everyday to fight this bacterial disease.
3. Having eight-ounces of yoghurt everyday keep women away from frequent problems of bacterial vaginitis or vaginosis. The acidophilus bacteria present in the yoghurt helps in creating a healthy bacterial environment.
4. If the vagina is swollen you can use plain tea bag soaked in water, cooled in refrigerator to be applied externally to prevent itching. The tannin in tea gives a soothing touch.
5.You can also use cold compress which alleviates the swelling and itching of the vagina. The cooling factor squeezes the blood vessels and prevents it from swelling and turning red.
6. Avoid tight clothes and try to wear cotton panties which absorb moisture and provide good air circulation.

What is the difference between Vaginitis and a Yeast Infection?

Yeast infection is a form of vaginitis, or inflammation of the vagina. It is caused by an overgrowth of Candida, a microscopic fungus that normally inhabits the vagina. There are four types of Candida. However, a variety called Candida albicans (C. albicans) causes the vast majority of vaginal yeast infections.

Why do I get reoccurring Bacterial Vaginitis?

In the past few years i have had BV every 8 to 12wks. Its not sex related. I've changed every thing I can think of! SOS! Its driving me crazy!

Do not Douch, ever, unless using prescription and techniques recommended by doctors. Douching has been proven to actually increase rate of infection because it disrupts the normal flora and usually the products are not sterile and contains organisms that should not be in contact with the vagina in the first place.
Eat bacteria containing yoghurt. it helps.
Avoid antibiotics if you can.
Frequent episodes of receptive oral sex may associated with unstable vaginal flora thus increasing chance of bacterial vaginosis
Epidemiologically, greater number of sexual partners, spermicide use, more frequent vaginal intercourse, and less frequent use of condoms, IUD etc were associated with bacterial vaginosis.
Please note epidemiological studies do not necessarily apply to specific cases for individuals  (+ info)

After a regular trip to my gynecologist, I was diagnosed with bacterial vaginitis, yet I have no symptoms?

I have no unusual discharge, odor, pain, itching, or irritation whatsoever. Could it have been a false positive?
I was prescribed some gel medicine. After using it I feel some pressure behind my eyes. I could just be tired, but I don't usually feel like this when I get tired. I'm a little dizzy too.
This whole thing just seems odd to me.
Any answers will be appreciated.

Sometimes an infection can be found before symptoms start when the doctor does a culture at the time of exam.

However, I would recommend letting your doctor know about the symptoms you are having now since using the medication so that they can evaluate the situation further.  (+ info)
