Would fixing my vitamin D deficiency make my iris look brighter?

At age 12 my eyes turned suddenly from blue to murky green. Now I am 34 and I always say I have green eyes! Only an iridologist picks up that my eyes are actually blue. She said it is because of all the toxins in my body.
Recently I was diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency and started taking supplements. After 3 days my iris are very bright, and starting to look a little more on the blue side.

Any ideas?
----------

Hey Kaz.

Almost all studies do not show that Vitamin D is connected to the eyes.

Vitamin D Deficiency results in impaired bone mineralization, and leads to bone softening diseases like Rickets, Osteomalacia, Osteoporosis, high blood pressure, tuberculosis, cancer, periodontal disease, multiple sclerosis, chronic pain, seasonal affective disorder, peripheral artery disease, cognitive impairment which includes memory loss and foggy brain and several autoimmune diseases including type 1 diabetes.

But it is probable that you could have a mild condition of one of the above disorders and that disorder caused your iris to become murky green, and after taking more Vitamin D, that disorder got better and caused your iris to shine brighter.

I suffer from nervous twitches in the face, due to vitamin b deficiency?

I suffer face twitches. The doctor says its vitamin b deficiency. I take strong vitamin b tablets. To be honest they are not that good. Its boots own brand. What else could i take. I have a good balanced diet. I get embarassed. I know that i am doing it.
----------

This is not likely to be correct diagnosis. B vitamin deficiencies are almost unknown in the developed world, with the exception of B12,in pernicious anaemia. In this case the vitamin is not absorbed in adequate quantities and must be given by injection anyway.Symptoms of this condition DO NOT include facial twitching anyway.

I suggest you seek alternative medical advice.  (+ info)

Can a vitamin b12 deficiency cause high blood pressure?

I have recently been diagnosed with a vitamin b12 deficiency and have to take injections. Can this deficiency cause me to have high blood pressure? I checked it today and it was 155/89
----------

No, it is highly unlikely that a deficiency of vitamin B12 is causing your high blood pressure problems. High blood pressure is more likely to be due to a high salt diet, high alcohol consumption, stress, or a lifestyle low in exercise.

As for your vitamin deficiency you can find a list of foods high in vitamin B12 here:

Is it ok to give 5 and 6 year old children adult size vitamin c pill everyday two or three times a day?

I have twin brother and sisters, and a 6 year old sister! The might as well be tripplets. My mother gives them two or three vitamin c tablets a day..
And if she hears them cough she gives them more! Is that safe?
----------

In my opinion, food with Vitamin C, such as oranges, are much better than a pill. For one, whole oranges contain fiber. They also taste better than a pill. My two-y-ear-old daughter really likes oranges, which is good, as we're at the beginning of orange season. I also think that oranges would be much cheaper than a bottle of pills.

Sounds to me that your mother is just a bit paranoid with her children getting sick. And, as has been said, "adult size" means for adults. Sure, I'm very concerned about my daughter's health and well being. That's why she gets whole, natural foods. (She gets meat and eggs, and cheese, but it comes from natural sources. We know from where the beef comes and they only buy natural, organic eggs and cheese as well and sell it in their meat market.) I digress.  (+ info)

What vitamin deficiency causes fatigue?

I had a blood test for anemia to see why i am tired but i do not have anemia. is there any other vitamin deficiency that causes fatigue?
----------

Hey James,

Despite what your blood test for anemia showed - you may be feeling lethargic due to a drop in your B12. You do not have to be anemic by Western medicine standards to be deficient in vitamin B12.

Vitamin B12 is important to good health. It helps maintain healthy nerve cells and red blood cells, and is also needed to make DNA, the genetic material in all cells.

Characteristic signs of B12 deficiency include fatigue, weakness, nausea, constipation, flatulence (gas), loss of appetite, and weight loss. Deficiency also can lead to neurological changes such as numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Additional symptoms of B12 deficiency are difficulty in maintaining balance, depression, confusion, poor memory, and soreness of the mouth or tongue.

You may also want to consider the possibility that your blood sugar may be causing your fatique. If your blood sugars are moving up-and-down too quickly fatique can result. If that's the case - you may want to look into eating foods that are lower glycemic. Don't despair - you do not have diabetes. Eating low-glycemic may give you longer-lasting energy calorie-for-calorie, combatting fatique.

If you need some tips on lower glycemic foods -- please feel free to look me up on http://www.TuDiabetes.com - A Community for People Touched by Diabetes.

What is relation between vitamin b 12 deficiency and depression or mood fluctuations,I am a vegetarian ,do?

I need to take vitamin pills to get my daily dose of vitamin B,I am from India and there is capsule here called Zevit which has B12 and other vitamin b and zinc and vitamin c ,i am planning to take them,is that ok or will there be any side effects.
----------

Forget all other answers , Look friend If u r a vegetarian U r right to know that a vegan diet will offer
you Zero Vit-B12 & I strongly recommend that U should take a suppliment that is high in vit B12 & low in others as u won't need excess of them ,
U may also use the gummy jellies sweets with specially added B12 provided by a lot of Good Food Companies. (U might not get in India)
If u r not okay then let me tell you that red meats account for the vitamin.
In vegetables the carrots & spinaches kinds have a minor amount but believe me It is so negligible that , U know I'm sure U won't like to eat kilograms of roots whole the day
Additionally
take some things from WIkipidea =---~
Recommendations

The Dietary Reference Intake for an adult ranges from 2 to 3 µg (micrograms) per day.

Vitamin B12 is believed to be safe when used orally in amounts that do not exceed the recommended dietary allowance (RDA). The RDA for vitamin B12 in pregnant women is 2.6 µg per day and 2.8 µg during lactation periods. There is insufficient reliable information available about the safety of consuming greater amounts of Vitamin B12 during pregnancy.

The Vegan Society, the Vegetarian Resource Group, and the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, among others, recommend that vegans either consistently eat foods fortified with B12 or take a daily or weekly B12 supplement.[33][45][46] Fortified breakfast cereals are a particularly valuable source of vitamin B12 for vegetarians and vegans. In addition, adults age 51 and older are recommended to consume B12 fortified food or supplements to meet the RDA, because they are a population at an increased risk of deficiency. -----Wikipedia-  (+ info)

Can deficiency of Vitamin C lead to the dehydration If yes then Why?

And what is the treatment of deficiency of vitamin C and how much time it takes to get ok
----------

dehydration has an easy fix. Drink water when you are thirsty. You can tell if you are dehydrated by the color of your urine. the darker the color, the more dehydrated you are. your urine should be nearly clear.
Vitamin C has nothing to do with hydration but the lack of it can cause a disease called scurvy  (+ info)
