child apoplexy?
My niece who has 5 years old had a fit of apoplexy.
This case is very rare,,,,
I'd like to know ,
-if there is any reference HP about child apoplexy?
-how it's gonna be the life of convalescence?
-How does an experienced person live?
----------
Apoplexy:as in stroke? Babies have been known to have strokes in utero. It is sad but a child's brain adapts much more readily to new pathways than an adult brain. I would think the bigger issue was the cause and prevention of further occurrences.
Good luck.. (

Deviated septum with nose plastic surgery. Is it possible to do these two things together?
I didn't get many answers, so I ask again.
I have deviated septum and I'm going to have surgery for it, because I can't breath through nose quite long. So, straight to question. I have big, wide, long nose with hump and I want to do plastic surgery with that (I want smaller, shorter, not wide nose without hump). So, if I ask doctor to do me not only deviated septum but also plastic surgery will it be more dangerous surgery? Will it be longer convalescence period? Please answer, I really wanna know.
----------
It is possible to operate both the things at a time and convalescence is almost the same but leave it to your surgeon to decide the best strategy (

Can someone tell me about nose jobs?
I'd like to get a nose job this summer. I just turned 18, and I think my bones have stopped growing. I'm excited, but I have some general questions before I visit a surgeon. Preferrably, someone with past rhinoplasty experience should answer.
How long is the convalescence period? How much pain and discomfort does it entail?
What are the differences you've felt since the procedure (other than the nose job itself). Any weird after-effects?
And, most importantly, how much did it cost and how did you afford it? Is it possible to pay in installments, monthly?
Thanks for any contributions to the topic.

What,s wrong with your nose? To long. to short? to big? Wont fit in strange places? Live with it. Be happy you have one, Geee Whiz .I bet the rest of your body need fixing to. (

Opiates for a cold or Flu?
Would prescription opiates, such as Oxycodone (i.e. Percocet, Percodan, OxyContin, etc.) be a good idea for relief of a cold or flu?
My conjecture is that an opiate of the stronger nature of Oxycodone would surely subdue if not eliminate discomfort, however it may impede overall convalescence:
1) Opiates can cause or exacerbate a dry, sore throat.
2) Opiates effect on the immune system may hamper/impede recovery.
3) Opiates may possibly affect nasal and chest congestion.
These are my preliminary contraindications. I currently have the Flu, and am eager to observe if my hypotheses are plausible.
Others, feel free to comment or add your own.
Post-Script: In my opinion, people who discontinue a long-term regimen of an opioid are more vulnerable to catch a bug; as I firmly believe that one's immune system is compromised, as the individual's body is in shock from the withdrawal, and is transferring its resources from its autoimmune to restore chemical equilibrium.
----------
While I am not a physician,I would never recommend someone to use opiates for either the flu or cold virus for comfort/pain relief. The pain associated with the effects of the cold or flu viruses in my opinin is not severe enough to justify the use of opiates. Both the short term side effects and the longer term risk of addiction due not justify the risk. Sort of like driving a thumb tack with a sledge hammer. There are plenty of over the counter remedies that should provide some comfort. If they do not, then consult with your physician for further relief.
I hope this helps and I hope for a speedy recovery for you. (

in what period in the phases of disease development can you transfer the disease?
there are 6 phases in disease development mainly:
Period of incubation
The patient is infected but does not yet know it.
# Prodromal period (phase)
The patient is starting to get sick.
# Period of illness [illness phase]
The period of illness, of course, is the time of greatest symptomatic experience (the patient is sick).
# Acme
1. The peak of illness intensity is called the acme.
# Period of decline [decline phase]
A subsidence of symptoms is experienced during this period.
That is, the patient is getting better.
# Period of convalescence
The body regains its pre-illness strength.
which of these periods wherein you are now able to infect other people, or that you are able to transmit the disease to other susceptible hosts. as i remember in my elementary days it was defervescence, but i'm not sure now. which period is it? please tell me... thanks!
----------
It depends on the specific pathogen.
Some are transferable, even infectious in all those stages. (

What exactly is the point of BUPA?
A brief glance through their premier policy left me fairly unimpressed. The things NOT covered by them are:
•Ageing, menopause and puberty
•AIDS / HIV‡
•Allergies or allergic disorders
•Birth control, conception, sexual problems and sex changes‡
•Chronic conditions‡
•Complications from excluded or restricted conditions / treatment
•Convalescence, rehabilitation and general nursing care‡
•Cosmetic, reconstructive or weight loss treatment‡
•Deafness
•Dental / oral treatment (such as fillings, gum disease, jaw shrinkage etc)
•Dialysis‡
•Drugs and dressings for out-patient or take-home use‡
•Experimental drugs and treatment‡
•Treatment to correct eyesight (eg long or short sight)‡
•HRT and bone densitometry‡
•Learning difficulties, behavioural and developmental problems
•Overseas treatment and repatriation
•Physical aids and devices‡
•Pre-existing or special conditions
•Pregnancy and childbirth‡
•Screening and preventive treatment
•Sleep problems and disorders
•Speech disorders‡
•Temporary relief of symptoms‡
•Unrecognised providers or facilities
... so what are they good for if not to assist you with previous conditions, current conditions, or possible future conditions? They better make one hell of a cup of tea for £84 a month.

BUPA treat the worried well!! they select the "nice" easy things to treat... its also very good for the share holders! (

I also have very little WHITE hairs on my arms and legs why??

I swim 3 days a week 25 yards maybe 500 yards when im finished 3 times a week.
i have some white hairs down there to..
----------
It might be your genetics. Your parents heavily depend on your height, if you dad and mom are short, most likely you'll be short. If you dad is short, and your mom is tall, you'll most likely be sorta tall.
Also, you might not have hit your growing stage yet because some people start very late and may not grow tall for a couple years. Wait till you're a Sophmore and you'll probably start worrying.
Try checking wikipedia for height for more answers. (

I don't care to read your opinions about "loving oneself", especially not your personal judgment about my character. I just want straight facts and advice about the PROCEDURE. Thanks again.
----------
You should really learn how to love yourself. Life is too short to worry about our little flaws.
You should see people with severe nose issues. Maybe that someone who had skin cancer & had her nose removed because of that. Count your blessings what you have. (
