check out www.tcoyf.com . I find it very helpful, and as one of the other people answered with detail about the ovulation process goes etc (which even i found informative!! Thanks!!), you will find this type of information on this website, and in the book as well.

(following is exerpt from: merck manual: http://www.merck.com/mmhe/sec13/ch162/ch162f.html?qt=galactorrhea&alt=sh )
re: GALACTORRHEA
" In most people, they {medications} lower prolactin levels enough to restore menstrual periods (in women), stop galactorrhea, and increase estrogen levels in women"

"and they are often able to restore fertility. "

ANYWAY.... good luck with getting pregnant, and if you try that book, i am sure that alot of your questions will be answered!!

GOOD LUCK!!!

I am very worried about this been something bad i have also read about galactorrhea but im just not sure im not taking any meds but i have smoke weed soo when i read this i am not so sure anymore. PLZZZ if anyone who is mature have any GOOD advice for me anything plz feel free i thank you sooo much for your time. P.S. i am a female and i am 22yrs old. Thanks again

I would probably venture to say that you are pregnant. But you must be pretty far along for you to already be discharging milk from your breast. I would say take a HPT and see. If you are wait for the results and go from there. And for now stop smoking anything it is not good if you are in fact pregnant. Good Luck.  (+ info)

does any1 kno what GALACTORREAH is?

i went to the doctor explainig that i havent been able to concieve and that i dont ever recall getting pregnant and that i was producing breast milk not alot just like a drop and its mostly from only 1 of my breast and he explaind to me that i have something called Galactorrhea.

he told me that was preventing me from getting pregnant and that i was going to take a medication called BROMOCRIPTINE a substitue for PARLODEL that it was going to stop me from producing the breastmilk and then id be able to get pregnant even while taking the pill.
any one kno of this being true

the problem now is that i went to another doctor to get a second opinion and he told me to get on birthcontrol so i still havent takin todays dose should i stop birth control and take the pill or how long should i wait for this.
----------

This is new to me, i've never heard of it but searched the internet, the website is below...

Did you know men gets this too??? thats interesting....

I have a friend who is trying to concieve now for about 7 months and she has been unable to, She was told to take birth control for a month, and then stop taking it, cold turkey, and she got pregnant automatically, so maybe this is why the 2nd opinion dr is telling you to take birth control... if you are unsure, talk back to either of those two doctors, or get a 3rd opinion.... Dont leave until you are sure of what they are telling you, and if you have any questions, dont hestitate to call or go back to ask them, its there job to help you, and its your body, and your babys future home when you do concieve, so take care of it!

Good Luck!  (+ info)

Galactorrea is when your breasts are producing milk (without a baby to feed), it happens to men and women, and it's often related to hormonal disorders, usually nothing serious.  (+ info)

white secretion still in breast but harder?

Alright about a year ago I wrote on yahoo answer about my breast problems. I wrote about when I squeeze my breast white fluid shoots out (I really mean shoot out).I went to the doctor and she told me its non cancerous but she said my thyroid level and prolactin level was high she ran more test ... anywho she gave me the results and she said it was Mastitis
mastitis from milk engorgement or secretory stasis
nipple discharge, also I had galactorrhea. Galactorrhea is the secretion of breast milk in men, or in women who are not breastfeeding an infant, however, is a rare condition that can occur in both men and women, where a white fluid is secreted by the nipples of both breasts. While this condition is not serious in itself, galactorrhea can indicate more serious conditions, including "hormone imbalances" or the presence of tumors. but now when I take off my bra to take a bath/shower I notice that the duct on my breast are clogged and the white secretion is hard.Whats happening?
I can say this... since I have not been drinking coffee for the last 3 month the secretion hasnt been shooting out... But I think I have fluid from my breast because Im always around kids and I would want children of my own soon (cant be pregnant because im not having sex)
----------

I have no clue. But I have similar white spots that are clear sometimes, but harder and white. I had managed to get a nipple ring caught on the shower handle and didn't realize. Turned around and it ripped out. I've had the white stuff come out of them through the holes from the piercings (on both sides) and on the one side that ripped out. I wonder if it might be the same.  (+ info)

I have a clear discharge coming from both nipples and no idea what it is.?

I've already looked into galactorrhea, but the only symptom I fit is discharge and that isn't even properly fitting because it's supposed to be white, greenish, or yellowish to fit galactorrhea not clear. I don't think it's a cyst as it's coming from both nipples and having cysts before i know what they feel like.

As for excess amounts of hormone, I just stopped my birth control 2 weeks ago (no long affordable) and it's never caused me this problem while on it.

Now, I was on a higher dose about a year ago and it caused a similar reaction near the end of my cycle, but they switched me back to a lower dose after 3 months of it happening.

No, I am not pregnant. I know there is a chance while on the pill, but my period just ended Saturday the 4th.

Nipple Discharge: One or both nipples sometimes discharge a fluid. A nipple discharge occurs normally during milk production (lactation) after childbirth. Or it can occur when the nipple is mechanically stimulated by fondling, suckling, or irritation from clothing or when women are sexually aroused. During the last weeks of pregnancy, the breasts may produce a milky discharge (colostrum). Stress can also result in a nipple discharge.
A normal nipple discharge is a thin, cloudy, whitish or almost clear fluid that is not sticky. However, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, a slightly bloody discharge sometimes occurs normally.
Several disorders can cause an abnormal discharge. Abnormal discharges vary in appearance depending on the cause:
•A bloody discharge may be caused by a noncancerous breast tumor (such as a tumor in a milk duct, called an intraductal papilloma) or, less commonly, by breast cancer. Among women who have an abnormal discharge, breast cancer is the cause in fewer than 10%.
•A greenish discharge is usually due to a fibroadenoma, which is a noncancerous solid lump.
•A discharge that contains pus and smells foul may result from a breast infection.
•A large amount of milky discharge in women who are not breastfeeding may represent galactorrhea (see Pituitary Gland Disorders: Galactorrhea).
Disorders of the pituitary gland or brain, encephalitis (a brain infection), an underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism), kidney or liver disorders, and head or chest injuries can also cause a nipple discharge.
Taking certain drugs can cause a nipple discharge. These drugs include opioids, certain drugs used to treat stomach disorders (such as cimetidine

A discharge from one breast is likely to be caused by a problem with that breast, such as a noncancerous or cancerous breast tumor. A discharge from both breasts is more likely to be caused by a problem outside the breast, such as a hormonal disorder or use of certain drugs.
If a nipple discharge persists for more than one menstrual cycle or seems unusual, women should see a doctor. Postmenopausal women who have a nipple discharge should see a doctor promptly. Doctors examine the breast, looking for abnormalities. Tests that may be done include ultrasonography of the breast, mammography, blood tests to measure hormone levels, and computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the head. Women are asked for a complete list of drugs they are taking. Sometimes a specific cause cannot be identified.
If a disorder is the cause, the disorder is treated. If a noncancerous tumor is causing a discharge from one breast, the duct that the discharge is coming from may be removed.  (+ info)

Galactorrhea is caused from excess prolactin usally (99% of the time) from a tumor on the pituitary gland.

i have a tumor causing excess prolatcitn . i took bromocyptine for a long time and now on another drug for the issue.

you should ask your doctor more about the cause of the Galactorrhea. i find it odd and disturbing he never sugested and mri or anything. request a specalist for pituitarys and make sure you find out the cause of the Galactorrhea. You need to treat the cause not just fix the symptoms.

the excess hormones do make it harder to get pregnant. but bromocrytine acts to curb that and in addition acts as a fertility drug.

but but but...my specalist and gp have both told me that as long as i am on the pill i will not get pregnat. they will not counter act each other.

you will not get pregant if you take the pill and bromocrytine. but i do recomend taking them at different times, because bromocryptine dose sometimes cause stomach/bowel problems which can interfer with the pill.

dont wory i have had this problem for 9 years now and have always been on the pill. it is no issue at all

but i must warn you when you decided you want children it will be very hard...if you can at all.

hope i could help  (+ info)

My sister started producing breastmilk when she was not pregnant. The doctors did some tests and found that it was caused by a cyst on her pituatary gland. she ended up getting pregnant about 5 months later and had no problem. after she had the baby the told her she may not be able to have anymore. 3 years later she was pregnant with her second baby and during this pregnancy she had problems with her eyesight which the doctors said was caused by the cyst. If I were you I'd weigh all the possibities before taking any drugs that could effect your ability to have children. Get a second opinion, and ask alot of questions.  (+ info)

hypothyroidism and early puberty?

I was just wondering if I may have hypothyroidism. Below are the list of symptoms that I have read on the internet and I somewhat have the same as the ones below especially about the early puberty. I experienced early puberty when I was 8 yrs old and now I am 16 yrs old. I dunno if the chronic fatigue that's stated below is the same as mine cause I feel sluggish when I wake up every morning unlike before.
I also gained around 40 pounds in 3 yrs. Are those symptoms enough for me to assume that I might actually have hypothyroidism? And also I felt that I gain weight every December to january (every year)though u might think it's due to the fact that it's christmas that's y I ate alot. But it's not because of that, I don't really eat much during christmas cause we don't celebrate xmas coz of our religion. And when I gain weight, it's like 8-10 pounds in a month, is that even normal?

Symptoms

Early symptoms of hypothyroidism include:

* Chronic fatigue
* Difficulty concentrating
* Sensitivity to cold
* Headache
* Muscle and joint aches
* Weight gain, despite diminished appetite
* Constipation
* Dry skin
* Early puberty
* Menstrual irregularities (either heavier-than-normal or lighter-than-normal bleeding)
* Milky discharge from the breasts (galactorrhea)

1) DON'T believe everything on the internet!
2) It is sooo simple to have your thyroid checked. One week after a simple test & you'll know exactly. The treatment is also extremely easy: (ask for dessicated thyroid, not Synthroid!)
3) so you're what's called, "precocious". So what? Sing some kind of praise, for you're a girl... enjoy it! You are unique & special! Show everyone you can do as well as Hillary C. or Maria Shriver.
4) See a GOOD Internal Medicine MD (preferably a female) & do exactly as you are told. Don't be playing 'doctor' yourself.
5) This is your bod. Ruin it, and where will you live?  (+ info)
