what is the risk for crimean congo hemorrhagic fever pandemic?
Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a viral haemorrhagic fever of the Nairovirus group. Although primarily a zoonosis, sporadic cases and outbreaks of CCHF affecting humans do occur. The disease is endemic in many countries in Africa, Europe and Asia, and during 2001, cases or outbreaks have been recorded in Kosovo, Albania, Iran, Pakistan, and South Africa.
The risk of a pandemic is very slight. CCHF is transmitted via ticks, or blood. The fact of the matter is that if a disease is to become a truly dangerous pandemic, it must have aerosol transmission (eg. sneezing, coughing, etc.). The odds of many people coming into contact with the blood of an infected person are slight, at best. Furthermore, with the quarantine procedures that would be implemented, the odds of any hemmorhagic fever becoming a pandemic or not good at all. There are far more dangerous and more easily transmittable diseases than CCHF. Your concern would be far better suited to a disease that infects the nose, throat, or lungs. (+ info

how'll someone get Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever instead of Dengue Fever? only after repeated bites by mosquitoes?
i would like to know that why dengue fever is divided into DF and DHF? is it for the different approach of managements? how will someone get DHF instead of DF? i read in some literatures saying that only after repeated bites by the mosquito,DHF will only develop in the patient?is that true?any experimental evidence to support that? hoping for a reply, thank you very much.
you could catch both from being bitten by a female aedes aegypti mosquito. those terms were used to describe the stage in which the patient is in. DHF/dengue hemorrhagic fever means its getting worse. in dengue you watch for 2 things, initially we note a decrease in the platelet count, then there is a hemoconcentration later on as seen by elevated hematocrit levels. that is the time you worry over bleeding tendencies when both decrease in platelet and hemoconcentration are present. What causes arthralgia and myalgia in Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever?
Your muscles and joints ache because your body is using all of its energy to fight off infection, not to take care of your muscles and joints. It is like when you have the flu and your body aches, it because your body is trying to fight the infection using all the resources it can. (+ info
Why do hemorrhagic fevers make you bleed?
What is the exact mechanism that causes you to hemorrhage? And what cells to hemorrhagic fevers target, specifically Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever?
Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever targets human monocyte-dendritic cells, which aid the immune system and the vascular system control. Hemorrhagic fevers cause you to bleed by damaging these types of vascular cells, thus making bleeding harder to control and weakening the blood vessel walls. When the blood vessels are weakened, the blood vessels burst.
