what is the stage of hodgkin lympoma if the disease is spread to stomach?

hodgkin lympoma
----------

vignesh,
That would be stage IV or 4 (four). These are the stages of Hodgkin's lymphoma. Stage 1 means there is Hodgkin's lymphoma in only 1 group of lymph nodes or lymphoma in one body organ only. Stage 2 means Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2 or more groups of lymph nodes or an organ and 1 or more group of lymph nodes. In both cases, the two sites of lymphoma must be on the same side of the diaphragm. Stage 3 means that lymph nodes on both sides of the diaphragm have Hodgkin's lymphoma. Stage 4 means that many groups of lymph nodes contain Hodgkin's lymphoma and it has spread to body organs such as the liver, bones or lungs. The letter "E" is used after the stage to designate that the disease has spread to other areas (bone marrow, lung, etc.) There are two other terms that are used in staging – “Progressive”, which is when the disease progresses (grows) while the patient is in treatment (usually treatment reduces tumours) and “Recurrent,” this means that the cancer has come back after it has been treated. It may come back in the area where it first started or in another part of the body.

Is hodgkin's lymphoma cancer treatment 100% curable disease?

Hi, I would like to know Is hodgkin's lymphoma cancer treatment 100% curable disease an more details
----------

Hi,

I was diagnosed with Lymphoma in 1994 and received CHOP treatment every 21 days. I was told I was in remission after that.

Then it came back in 2003. I had RICE treatment, in hospital 24/7 for three days every 2 weeks... and went into remission thankfully once again.

Hodgkin's as I recall had a 90% cure rate and Hodgkin's a 50% chance. I am still around...thank God.

To better my opportunities of survival ( the second time they gave me a 10% chance for cure) I opted for a transplant and radiation.

As you know, it is 2009 and I just had my ct-scans...all is fine. If you need someone to discuss, please feel free to e-mail me.

Mystified

P.S Just wondering if the other Lymphoma survivor would mind me on her fan list or contact? (mySleepL)

Would like to know if the the person asking the question going through this disease or is it someone that you care about?  (+ info)

My fiance was just diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease Neither of us have insurance is there any help available?

Thank you for the answers i have recieved so far and by the way we are in Georgia
----------

My husband is in remission from Hodgkin's for the second time. I thank God we have insurance. When he went through it for the first time, when we were engaged, we happened to ask our nurse what would happen if we didn't have insurance. She told us that he would be getting treatment for no cost because it is a cancer, a life-threatening disease, and the state and hospital could not deprive someone of getting treatment.

Of course, I do not know what state you are from so things may be different. I would ask the doctor, and see if the hospital offers assistance for those who can't afford things like he will need. Believe me, ask for any help you can get, you might have a social worker to help you with the info. I remember when we had to pick up shots called Neupogen. They are to boost white blood cells so he can stay on track with his schedule of treatments. I went to pick it up at the pharmacy and they told me it just went through with the insurance. If it didn't we'd be paying over $300.00 for about 10 days worth.

Good luck to you both, and you are in my prayers. Before you know it, it will be gone and you'll have your normal lives back, just put your trust in God and everything will be okay.  (+ info)

It's violet. Here is "The Violet Ribbon" website for Hodgkin's disease awareness.

Question concerning Hodgkin's disease(lymphoma) in adolescents?

a friend of my is 18, and a few months ago he was diagnosed with hodgkin's disease (a form of lymphoma). It was caught in the early stages, however since he is 18 his parents cant force him to get treatment, and he refuses to.

i want a completely honest answer....if he never seeks treatment, how long does he have left?

hes a very fit person if that helps
----------

It could be anywhere between a few months and 20 years, every person will develop within there disease differently.

My brother fought Hodgkins for 7 years and finally passed away after a long battle. His was caught within a mid stage.

Your friend is going through a lot, the doctors will talk with him and work him through everything. Legally he can refuse treatment, just give him time.

He is lucky it was caught early, with treatment, he CAN overcome this.  (+ info)

what is the difference between hodgkin's disease and non hodgkins disease?

What is the difference between Hodgkin's lymphoma and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma?
The difference is in the type of lymphocytes involved - the cell of origin.

In Hodgkin's disease, the abnormal lymphocyte is the Reed-Sternberg cell (a B lymphocyte). This particular lymphocyte isn't found in other types of lymphomas. All other types of lymphomas are called non-Hodgkin's (NHL). There are about 30 subtypes of NHL.

Identifying the correct type of lymphoma is important because treatment for Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's can be very different. Pathologists can distinguish between Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's by examining the cell sample from a biopsy under a microscope  (+ info)

I think your friend may well change his mind when he starts suffering with symptoms. As well as those mentioned by another answerer the symptoms can be very painful and cause 2 stone (28 pounds) or more weight loss in a short space of time. I know several people who have experienced excrutiating pain and weight loss before being diagnosed.

After diagnosis they have then proceeded with the treatment. So try not to worry your friend can have the treatment albeit it a later stage.  (+ info)

what is the TREATMENT for NON-HODGKIN disease STAGE 2?

is it curable?
----------

Probably R-CHOP, which is Rituxan, Cytoxan, Adriamycin, vincristine, and prednisone. I'll leave it to you to look up the drugs, but here's a good website...

http://www.chemocare.com/bio/

Non-Hodgkins is not "curable", but with the newer treatments - particularly Rituxan - people go on to live long, happy lives with long periods of stable disease.  (+ info)
