How long should the distal joint on my finger be swollen for?

When playing football I got hit right in the tip of my left ring finger and the distal joint is still swollen and is slightly painful when forcefully holding a football or hockey stick. The injury first happened a week and a half ago. It is still swollen. What's your guess?

well u got to give it time to heal,ur just aggravating it,but i love football also-so i would tape it tightly but not to cut off circulation-it will keep it immobile and give it a chance to heal.also ice it often  (+ info)

What is the best joint support supplement for a 23 year old?

I am only 23, but I've always had bad joints, and I permanently messed up my elbows when I was 17. Because of this I'm very careful when working out.

But recently I've started cutting some fat and for some reason my joints are hurting more than normal.

I only take whey protein and a vitamin supplement at the moment. Should I start taking a joint support supplement? I don't know what are the proper brands or items. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Flax seed oil or fish oil helps a bit. I have used them both. I only take fish oil now. Universal animal flex is supposed to work. But if you stop taking it then it comes back. Glucosamine and chondroitin also seem popular.  (+ info)

How to tell the difference between joint pain in knees and muscle pain?

I do heavy squats about 3 days a week and sometimes I can't tell if the joint is in pain or the muscles surrounding them are. Does anyone know anything I can do to help me figure it out?

What is the best arrangement for joint custody?

I work 5 days a week 8-4:30 every day and have weekends off. What would be the best arrangement to see my child with joint custody that is realistic and doable. She is willing to let me have my son 3 weekends a month (Fri evening, Sat, Sun day, every Thursday evening, and the fourth week I will see him only on Thurs. I also get him on holidays too. Is this a good arrangement? Should I keep him during the weekdays and let her have him on the weekends?

Keep him on the weekends. I don't know about you, but I remember weekends far better than I ever did weekdays, and you want your son to remember you better out of the two of you, so weekends + holidays = much better. Weekdays get cluttered up with school and one day blends into another.

You may lose out on getting to do much of your own stuff, esp. if that occurs on weekends, but there are plenty of things you can do together to let off some steam.  (+ info)

How do i cook a beef joint in the slow cooker?

I want to cook a beef roast joint while at work but i have lost my slow cooker instruction book... Does anyone know how to go about it?

Make a mix of Vegetable stock, beef stock and red wine
Pour in the liquid add the beef joint & a onion studed with cloves, dont forget a muslin bag of mixed herbs then add your other veg like leeks & celery, carrots etc add new potatos about 1hour before you ready to dish up & serve , cook slowly on a low heat
Salt & pepper to taste & some garlic never hurt anybody
Take the joint out after about 6hours to see how its done & cook longer if desired. Serve with the vegetables & potatos that cooked with the meat use the liquid as a soup, or reduce it & make a gravy...  (+ info)

How can you tell the difference between joint pain and muscle pain?

Very seldom, if ever, are you going to feel joint pain. There are no pain receptors in the joints or ways of sending messages. You are really feeling the pain in the muscles around that joint, ones that have become inflamed or are having pressure put on them. So the real answer is it's all muscle pain.  (+ info)

I have a grandfather with serious arthritis in his knees and it's getting really hard for him to walk. He wants to know which is the best bone and joint medicine out there that you can get over the counter.

MSM and glucosomine. Also, my Mother, while waiting for a hip replacement, used Devils Claw, which is an herbal remedy available at any drug store. She stated after about one month, her pain levels did reduce.
