Do you know of a natural remedy to deal with mood disorders, such as Bipolar?
I have heard of naturopathic remedies for Bipolar, but you would have to seek a qualified ND for the exact ones that would work for you. (

Question on Omega-3 and mood disorders?
I went to the store today to purchase some Omega3 and couldn't figure out which one to buy. There was one that was labelled "Omega 3-Mood Disorders" Is it true that there is a connection between a lack of Omega 3 and mood disorders (depression, violence, etc)?
----------
Yes, here's a great article on that finding:

I have taken Zone Labs for about 3 years. After researching the best pharmaceutical grade formulas, this is the brand I was most impressed with in all categories. You can read more about Dr. Sears brand here:

If you are interested in Omega 3 and their effect on health, you should check out Dr. Sears book:

I'm looking for someone who takes meds for bipolar or some other kind of mood disorder?
I think I may have Cyclothymia-- although I know how inaccurate self diagnosing often is. My family has a history of mood disorders though.
I am considering going to a psychiatrist so I can be diagnosed have given whatever mood stabilizing prescription there is for whatever I have.
For those that have some kind of mood disorder, what do the drugs do for you? Do you feel significantly better with them? What are the side effects?
Thanks!
----------
I'm Bipolar with psychotic features. I take prozac, invega, ativan, lithium, lamictal, welbutrin, abilify, and some kind of sleeping med that I can't remember right now.
Before the meds I went for a while cutting, burning, branding, beating, and one suicide attempt and being convinced to stop another time right before I tried again. Then I was put in a psych ward. After that I was put on some meds and they have been changed and used in different combos several times over a 4 year period. Once they got it right I was more stable. I feel more like a "normal" person with "normal" emotions. Once I tried taking myself off the meds and I started seeing and hearing things at night so I went right back on them. That was from my own brain not an effect off stopping all my meds at once. (

What are some differences between bipolar and borderline personality disorders?
I know that BP's tend to be in depressed/manic phases for a while, but BPD's tend to change moods frequently (rapid mood cycling). Many of the symptoms of these two mental disorders are shared, so what are some distinct differences between them other than what I mentioned?
Oh, and I do know bipolar is more of a mental disorder while BPD is more of a personality disorder.
Thanks
----------
Bipolar mood shifts do not have a cause....... they happen as the chemicals in the brain change but are not triggered by events. BPD rapid mood shifts are usually triggered by events, sometimes seemingly insignificant but triggering events none the less.
Bipolar is usually relieved by medication (because it is a chemical imbalance that can be balanced by meds) while BPD usually does not see an improvement through medication.
BPD has specific behaviors not usually seen in Bipolar - Black and white thinking, fear of abandonment, insecure sense of self, jealousy (usually related to the fear of abandonment), need for constant validation, etc.....
Both disorders are frequently seen together - Someone with Bipolar usually comes from a family that has other mental illnesses in it such as Bipolar parents, depression, schizophrenia. This can create a childhood environment where BPD can easily develop resulting in many people who have both disorders. (

where can a family diagosed with both mood disorders and adhd get responsible health insurance in virginia?
Check with the State. Sometimes they will have an insurance pool for individuals that are considered uninsurable outside of a group plan. However, the premiums are usually very high. Good luck. (
