How do I get my 2 year old to sleep through the night?

My 2 year old wakes up everynight at 2, 3 or 4 am then comes to our room. He is usually very grumpy, but never seems to have had a bad dream he just seems to need to be with me. I try to put him back in his room, but he just has a fit and unfortunatly he shares a room with his 1 year old brother so I hate to wake him. Last night he came in at 2 and did not go back to sleep until 4:15. This is causing big problems with me and my husband. Does anyone have any suggestions?
----------

The top person is right. Waking up in the middle of the night becomes habit, and I doubt it's because he doesn't get enough activity during the day. Putting him quietly back to bed (even if it take 25 times the first night) is the only way to break the habit. Letting him fall back asleep with you or stay in your room for those 2 hours just reinforces this habit.  (+ info)

How should I control my 2 1/2 year old when I go to the mall or when I visit family and friends?

My 2 1/2 year old gets so hyper when I visit my family and friends. He will behave very nicely at home and would follow the routine and every thing. When some one visit us or when we visit our family and / or friends he get very hyper and would not listen to me or his dad. What should I do to keep him occupy when we visit people. Is this a normal behaviour ?
----------

Whenever my brother and I would act up while being out, my dad would tell us "if you keep doing that, I will embaress you". So, naturally we kept doing it and then he would stop, announce to everybody else walking by that "everybody look at these two silly children! Look how silly they are being! Aren't they emabressing?". lol. That shut us up  (+ info)

Is 2 week gap between removing braces and getting retainers ok? How fast do the teeth move in general?

I am getting my braces off and because of some constraints I NEED to get my braces off on a certain date. The ortho told me that the teeth could move in the 2-week time window where I get the braces off and get my new retainer.

Do teeth really relapse THAT quickly? Serious answers only pls!!
----------

If they do move then your retainers will make them back to the way they were they take the impressions right when you get them off. You'll be fine! congrats on your new smile!  (+ info)

In the past but they come out like concrete. I like my eggs to be runny but NOT snotty. How long should I boil 2 for????
No disrespect to you 3 but all of you can't be right.

What is normal for pain meds 2 months after a total knee replacement?

After 2 months of a total knee replacement, I'm taking (2) tabs of 5 mg vicodin/tylenol every 4 hours. My doctor wants me to cut back and I know this is in my best interest but I'm wondering what others are/were taking at the 2 month mark.
----------

It does not matter what others take. Every one heals at a different rate. And every ones pain tolerance is different. Stop taking them for a day and see if you can go with out. If your doctors are ready to tapper you of them then it must be about time. If it still hurts then talk to your doc.  (+ info)

How to teach a 2 year old good ways to show anger?

My 2 year old neice seems to bite herself when she gets angry. She knows it's wrong to bite other people and bite things but we can't seem to get her to stop biting her arms, hands and legs. She never gets to do it long enough to hurt herself because we stop her. but she doesn't show any signs of stopping. What are some good ways to teach a 2 year old to show her anger?
----------

Teach her to talk to you or an adult or even the person making her angry about how she feels. She feels the anger and doesn't know what to do so she hurts herself. My little girl use to do it, now she expresses her anger in words, the root of the problem gets addressed and she feels better.  (+ info)

How can I reduce 2 inches off my thighs?

I've been running 1-2 miles a day for about three months. I've definitely seen the benefits and lost 5 pounds. It seems, however, that my body is slightly pear-shaped, skinnier on top, bigger on bottom. What can I do (workouts, more cardio, diet) to lose 2 inches (of preferably fat) off my thighs?
----------

The way to lose weight is through healthy diet and exercise. Eat 4-6 SMALL meals a day, consisting of lean meats, whole-grain starches, fruits and vegetables. Set up your plate so 1/4 is meat, 1/4 is starch, 1/2 is fruit and veggies, and there is minimal fat.

If you do this as well as drink 8 glasses of water a day and exercise for 30 min a day a few times a week, you will see healthy results.

Good luck.  (+ info)

How can I get 2 month old baby to sleep in his crib?

I have been sleeping my 2 month old in my bed with me since day 1. I breastfeed so its alot easier to have him next to me at night. Well, in order to do this I had to send my husband to sleep on the couch. We both had enough of this arrangement and want the baby in his crib, but everytime I put him down in it he cries and cries. Ive tried putting him down asleep, awake , and half asleep. Everytime he wakes up very alert and refuses to sleep in there. I dont want things to get worse so I want to take care of this now that he is only 2 months. Oh and please dont tell me to try the ferber method. I did with a previous child and absolutely cant do that again. It is too hearbreaking for me. Please give me some suggestions so I can have my husband back . By the way, my sons crib is in my room next to my bed, so I am very close to him.
I tried to let him cry a few days ago but everytime I checked on him he was covered in sweat. I had the same problem with my now 10 year old , he slept with me for almost 4 years. He is great now but the transition time for him was hell for all of us so I want my new baby to learn to sleep without me while he is still a baby. I just dont know if I should still let him lay there while he is covered in sweat and crying like there is no tomorrow. My husband is out of town for 2 weeks because of work so I want to get something acomplished in this time frame or at least begin to do something. Also just thought Id let you know, he does not take bottles so I breastfeed 100% of the time. If any of you have tried the ferber method or any other method with a baby of this age please give me all the details so I dont feel like Im doing it all wrong.

You are a marshmallow!

Time to get tough, sister, or baby will control and rule your life.

Are you on a strict routine (i.e., specific feed time, bath time, bed time)??

Babies LOVE routines on a strict time-line.

YOU need to listen to your baby...and then kiss the little darling good-night after you put him in his own crib and then walk away.

Let him cry.
He'll eventually get the message after a night or two of crying himself to sleep.

Don't be a wimp - just DO IT.

Otherwise, in a few years when you have no control over your kids, we'll be pointing our fingers at you and saying "we told you so!"  (+ info)

How often should a 2 week old newborn poop?

My daughter is 2 weeks today and is formula fed. (Nestle Good Start now but was eating Enfamil) She doesn't poop every day, but maybe every 2 days and when she does she has a very hard time doing it. It's very green as well which is gas correct?

She goes to the doctor tomorrow but was curious if it was normal.
----------

She's fine. Doctors say from 3 times a day to 3 times a week is normal for bottle fed babies. Breast fed babies can go a whole week without going!  (+ info)
