Can I get hepatis c from my partner by having unprotected sex?

I just learned that my new partner has hep c. I was wondering is it possible for me to get it by having unprotected sex with him.

First, Hep C is not an STD. It is a blood born disease. The only way you will get it through unprotected sex is if blood is involved. It's NOT passed from bodily fluids i.e. semen, saliva, sweat, etc. Just blood. So if there is no blood present, you have nothing to worry about. But, it is always smart to use a condom with a person, whether they have Hepatitis C or not.

EDIT: To prove how hard it is to receive Hep C through sexual contact, I would like to state: My mom contracted Hep C from a blood transfusion in the late 1960's. She has been married to my dad for 35 years and he has never contracted it. I have had Hep C for 19 years. I got it from my mom when I was born. I have been with my husband since I was a freshman in high school. That was over 5 years ago. (We will be married 2 years on the 21st.) He is Hep C free as well. Both my dad and my husband have been tested numerous times and they are both free of the virus.  (+ info)

Allergy Attack After Taking Asprin Associated with HIV and Hepatis C ?

I read this somewhere. Someone please tell me its not true. I have notice in the last couple of years that when I take something with aspirin in it that I have a horrid allergy attack. My eyes water and my nose is so stuffed it feels like it's going to explode. Couldn't I have just aquired an allergic reaction to aspirin over the years?

How did you get from an aquired allergy to aspirin to HIV and Hep C? Yes, people aquire allergies. It's not common but certainly not unheard of.

what are some of the side effects of the medicine taken for hepatis C?

what are some of the side effects of taken treatment for hepatitis C?

I won't lie to you, there are many. Some people get them worse than others. I have only a few weeks or so to go on my 48 weeks of treatment. It has not been fun. I wear a wig because I lost most of my hair. I have been blessed with diarrhea, rash, depression, loss of appetite, vomiting, headaches (be sure to drink lots of water, it can help the headaches a little), extreme fatigue, weight loss, many foods don't taste the same as they normally do. There are lots of other little things. Like my temper flares very quickly, and I sometimes seem confused. My family has been very patiet with me, I know it has been hard on them too.  (+ info)

Hepatic Peliosis - what is it? How bad is it?

a good friend of mine has just been diagnosed with this, she's 36 and otherwise healthy. She's been told hers is inherited. We've tried looking it up but can only find the scientific papers on this. Does anyone know of a website that talks in layman terms or support groups?
