Is it possible to improve night vision or low light?
i had a lasek surgery about 3 years ago and my vision is not very good in low light and at night otherwise is good. is there any vitamins or something that could possibly improve my night vision?
----------
No, it's not a vitamins or eye drops problem, I'm afraid.
A careful refraction might show a small residual Rx worth having at night, when your pupils are larger.
Any glasses should have an anti-reflective coating, but such a coating on zero-power glass will be of no benefit.
Sometimes a light yellow tint designed to cut-out blue wavelengths (which are more easily scattered) can be of benefit but, depending where you live, there may be restrictions on wearing tinted glasses for driving at night. (

What travel health insurance companies are good (low deductible, includes vision and dental)?
I need good travel health insurance while living/working abroad for two years, in several countries. I would also like vision and dental coverage, but can't seem to find anything on that front. What do you use?

When I am low on energy something funny happens to my vision?
I get a perfect circle of little black and white, semi-see-through dots in the middle of my vision and it's intensity varies according to how shakey I am. What is this and how can I reduce it coz it buggers up my ability to read and write sometimes.
I'm not starving myself. I have healthy appetite. I just run out of energy quickly. I think it's to do with a high metabolism
----------
I think the perfect circle is your pupil or iris... I've seen the black and white two... Maybe it's a blood supply issue? Best to check with your ophthalmologist. (

I have low vision; I'm basically blind in my left eye. Does anyone know any convenient ways I can read music ?
I have low vision; I'm basically blind in my left eye. Does anyone know any convenient ways I can read music ? or see my laptop more clearly? I've been a working classical musician all my life so this has come as a shock to me. Thanks for your consideration.

hi!!!
wow, ur question really stood out for me! its awsome! um...i think i should explain..
im in high school right now and music is MY LIFE! i've been involved with music since i was 2..thats when i "played" my first little kid piano. but my main instrument is clarinet, i've been playing that for about 7/8 years. anyway, im legally blind and me and my music teachers have come up with some creative ways for me to learn my music for the bands and choirs at my school.
im not sure wut your vision is, but mines 20/400 in my rite eye and i too am almost blind in my left eye..i c like lite and sometimes movement. anyway, i have always learned my music through rote (by ear). i told my band and choir instructor this and since i want to persue music in college and beyond, they are showing me how to read music again (i used to b able to rely on my vision in elementary, but its gotten deteriorated). however, i still learn by rote and i recommend it. also, they have enlarged my music so i can at least c it a little better. that has helped me with reading rythms, but i still rely on listening. my band director will make a cd of my part, and give it to me. i still read as much as i can with my music. there's also musical braille, but i dont reccomend it. its really complicated and it doesnt seem very effecient. my advice is to either enlarge your music on legal sized paper, or have some1 make a cd for you and learn by ear.
as for your laptop, i use a screen reader called JAWS. it reads everything i type and everything others would see. i also have this screen magnifier called MAGic which is like ZOOMtext..if you've heard of that. it magnifies everything on the screen and is really great. u can set it just about any level of magnification you need to. here's a website where you can get a free 40 min. download of the software im talking about:
www.freedomscientific.com
this is awsome...u can even buy the software from it!
i really hope this helps! its soo cool to kno that ur in2 music as much as i am. u sound like a really great muscian and i hope u do well! good luck in everything! it'll all work out..no worries, it just takes a little creativity :).
Best Wishes from a rookie muscian!!
esh
ps: let me know how it works out!! good luck sure (

Can you fix low vision problems with corrective lens?
I had surgury to correct a retnal detachment. Now I am Legally blind in that eye because of blurred vision. Can i be able to see better if I get a stronger perscription glasses? I wear glasses anyway.
----------
If you had a retinal detachment, and the macula was off, and then the detachment was repaired...and now you can't see well even with the right Rx...this indicates that the macula, the center of the retina, was damaged. But....if you are relatively young (teens or early 20's or even just 20's or so) with time you can get a significant amount of vision back.
You'll find that the other eye, if it's good, will become the dominant eye. It won't work harder just because the other can't see well, but you'll depend on it for finer vision.
There are lots of low vision aids out there. They vary from simple magnification with large lenses, to special telescopes, to little cameras mounted to computer screens for reading, writing checks and stuff like that.
Legally blind means that the best corrected vision in that eye is 20/200 or worse. That means that a normal person would see a letter at 200 feet (smallest one he can make out) and you stand at the 20 foot range to see that same letter. He could see a little letter at 20 feet. That would be 20/20. A 20 foot letter at 20 feet.
The thing about low vision aids is that with the other eye being ok, you wouldn't tolerate using the aid for the bad eye very well.
Also, and this is probably the more important thing. Wear Glasses. Wear glasses not just to see better, but to protect that good eye. You don't want some stupid accident to hit your good eye and then after all is said and done, your bad eye is NOW your good eye. And for some reason, when people with one good eye hit themselves in the eye, they don't hit the bad one, they hit the good one. So glasses for you would be for safety. (

I am looking for low cost dental and vision insurance. Currently reside in Georgia and wanted to know if any?
Was looking at Humana but wanted to find out what other companies were out there. If you can please tell me why you chose the company you are currently with.
----------
I used to have dental insurance, but canceled when I signed for this discount program. It gave me almost 50% to 80% off regular dental stuff which is about what I would pay even if I had insurance.. but I don't have to pay the $50 a month for the insurance. It's 20 bucks, and it gives me dental coverage, vision, prescription and chiropractic. And it's 20 bucks for anyone living in my house. My roommate (who is not related to me) gets the same discount on her stuff. If you sign up today, you can go the Dr. tomorrow, no limits, no deductible. you just pay whatever your discount is.
It's great. www.EveryoneBenefits.com/smiles click on dental plus.
You can search for a dentist in your area, and then at the top hit join now. Register with the site, and you're good to go! Good Luck! (

How do I ask about low vision products?
Due to age, I just cannot read those tiny displays, anylonger. I refer to the displays on calculators, cell-phones, etc. If I wanted to find/buy a cell-phone, with "Talking Caller I.D.", so that the phone would tell me who was calling, how do I ask about such a device? Any suggestions?
----------
www.independentliving.com/departments.asp?dept=197
This site has cell phone magnifiers at a reasonable price. I purchase a "talking phone" through my phone company several years ago. It was a bit expensive then but the price may be lower on these now (my husband got mine in a divorce settlement) and Radio Shack may have them. Call your phone company (both cell and home) and ask them.
I know how you feel. I need glasses and I am to proud to admit my EYES are aging! (
