4-nitroquinoline-1-oxide (4-Nitroquinoline-N-oxide)

A potent mutagen and carcinogen. This compound and its metabolite 4-hydroxyaminoquinoline-1-oxide bind to nucleic acids. It inactivates bacteria but not bacteriophage.
